George Robert Hoggan

George Robert Hoggan, 82, passed away February 9, 2015, at his home in Washington, UT. He was born June 21, 1932 in Burley, ID, to James Drummond and Agnes Maria Cordon Hoggan.
Bob was the 10th of 10 children born in the family home on 1542 Hansen Ave. in Burley, ID. Bob attended grade school at the Miller School and High School at Burley High, graduating in 1950. He attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 1956. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War, where he was on the front lines. When the war ended he was sent to Hawaii until he was discharged.
He married Rosemary McBride, February 9, 1956, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple by Apostle Harold B. Lee, a family friend. They were blessed with five children. He was the owner and manager of Hoggan's Leather and Canvas, a four generation business on the Rupert, Idaho town square, for 40 years. He was active in community affairs and the LDS Church serving in many positions. Bob retired in 1996 and moved to the St. George area. Bob and Rosemary loved serving in the St. George LDS Temple together, and singing with the Southern Utah Heritage Choir, which brought them much joy.
Bob is survived by: his wife Rosemary; children, Kevin (Maria) Hoggan, Marcel (Shane) Morris, Roseanne (Liae) Matavao, and Daren (Silvana) Hoggan; foster daughter Sharon Curley; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister Marie Gosch. He was preceded in death by: his parents; a son Robert Jr.; and eight siblings.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Buena Vista Stake Center 860 N. Fairway Dr., Washington, UT. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30a.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 11:00a.m., at the Pleasantview Cemetery in Burley Idaho.

So many memories of our friendship and singing with Bob in the Heritage Choir. Merlin thoroughly enjoyed being Bob's good friend! May God bless you, the Hoggan Family and strengthen you at this sad time.
