SUMBERG
Frances, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday February 9th at her residence in Ridgewood, NJ.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Frances lived in Ridgewood for the past 45 years.
She worked as a Loan Officer for Columbia Savings and Loan for 10 years before retiring in 1980. Frances enjoyed Crocheting for Valley Hospital specifically the Oncology Department and Baby Nursery.
Pre-deceased by her loving husband Mortimer of 56 years in 2005, she is survived by her son Jeff and his wife Debra, and her granddaughter Lori Sumberg of Ringwood, NJ; a brother Roy DeMeo and his wife Toni of Cutchogue, NY; a niece Peri Karkheck and her husband Russell of Nanuet, NY; a nephew Roy DeMeo Jr and wife Linda of Charlotte NC; a great niece Katie Karkheck of Nyack NY; a great nephew Jesse Karkheck and wife Leslie of Ida MI, and great grand niece Melanie Karkheck.
A memorial gathering will be held on Monday February 16th from 6 to 8 PM at Gutterman-Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601.

I knew Fran from the Glen Rock knitting group. So sorry to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathy to her family.

There are people you will always remember in your life no matter how long you knew them. "Aunt Sissy" was just such a person. I will remember her for her kindness and compassion. She was also a great conversationalist with a quick wit! I'm so grateful to have known her.
