HARRY V. LUCAITIS VALPARAISO, IN
Harry V. Lucaitis, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a successful business owner, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his home in Valparaiso. Born on February 18, 1933 in Tripolis, Greece to the late Vasile and Eleni (nee Malleris) Lucaitis. He was a resident of Valparaiso since 1972, formerly of Gary, IN, owner of Tranco Industrial Services in Burns Harbor, IN, 1953 graduate of Emmerson High School, graduate of Chicago Technical College, and Purdue University with a degree in Civil Engineering, member of Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Innsbrook Country Club, and the Hunkee Hollow Athlete Association, and US Army veteran of the Korean War. Survived by wife, Ethel A. (nee Stavrakis) Lucaitis of Valparaiso IN; children: Bill Lucaitis of Valparaiso IN, Helen (Jon) Lucaitis-Lafayette of Chicago IL, Faye (Gregg) Blaszak of Greenville SC; grandchildren: Paige and Grace Blaszak, Will Lucaitis, Talie and Anya Lafayette; Cousin, Betty Georgelos. Preceded in death by parents, and brother, Dimitri Lucaitis. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St., Merrillville IN 46410. Fr. Ted Poteres and Fr. George Pappas officiating. Interment, Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary IN. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Trisagion Service at 5:00 p.m. at the Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell St, Valparaiso IN. I will miss my best friend in life! Harry made me one of his family and treated me like he was my son. I worked for Harry for 18 years after I retired from USS. I will never forget my adopted Father. I still love him to this day and will never forget our personal day to day encounters. Diana and I will never forget Harry and his entire family.
