GASTONIA - Robert F. "Bobby" Helms died Feb. 11, 2015.
He was born Nov. 16, 1948, son of the late Robert J. and Edith Penson Helms. A former employee of Duke Power Company and currently was a Lead Man for Pike Electric with 46 years service. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a member of Mt. Holly Lodge No. 544 AF&AM as well as a Shriner. Bobby was also a member of Concord Baptist Church in Bostic.
Survivors include his daughters, Laura Helms Merrill of Kings Mountain, NC, and Kelly Elliott of Stanley, sisters, June Haulk of Fletcher and Marty Helms and husband Ken of Bostic. There are also three grandchildren, Caroline Murray, Carson Merrill, and Alana Smith as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, in the Padgett and King Chapel with the Rev. Travis Laflin officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
Interment will be private for the family in the Cool Springs Cemetery. The family will be at the home of his sister, Marty McCraw on Tiney Road, Ellenboro.
