OLIVIA G. GONZALEZ MISSION - "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no human mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" –1 Corinthians 2:9 Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother entered eternal rest and peace into God's heavenly kingdom on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the age of 89. She was and will always be the loving foundation of strength and inspiration of our family. Olivia was preceded in death by her parents Anastacio and Emilia Reyna Garza and by her brother and sister-in-law Guadalupe and Eva Garza, her sister Sofia Garza Hernandez, and her sister-in-law Eliza Garza. She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Guillermo Gonzalez of Mission, Texas, and her loving children, Arturo and Ellen Gonzalez of Edinburg, TX, Tony and Elvia Gonzalez of Round Rock, TX, Guillermo, Jr. and Lydia Gonzalez of McAllen, TX, Diana and Ken Gallia of Austin, TX, and Linda and Fernando Segundo of Robstown, TX. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, who brought such joy and happiness to "grandma Olivia", Cristina, Monica, Celinda and Eddie, Adrian, Tony, Megan, and Oliver, and her great granddaughter, Emily Kristine. Olivia is also survived by her brothers Oscar (Jean) Garza, Gavino (Eliza†) Garza of Mission, TX, and Ricardo (Norma) Garza of Seguin, TX; her sister Maria Magdalena Silvas (Ramiro) of Mission, TX, her brother-in-law Ismael Hernandez of Houston, TX and several nieces and nephews. Olivia was a woman of strength and beauty, and of love and humility. Her devotion to her family was immeasurable. She found beauty in simple things, and joy in helping others. She will be sorely missed, but her strong loving influence will surely live on forever. Visitation will be held from 1pm-9pm with 7pm rosary on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Funeral mass will be held in her honor at 10 am on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Mission. Honored to serve as her pallbearers are her grandsons, Adrian Gonzalez, Tony Segundo, Oliver Gallia, and Eddie Reyna, and George Amorim and Joe David Garcia. The family would like to thank Dr. Charity Abreu and her staff for their many years of care, and express a very special appreciation to the nurses, therapists, and staff of Las Palmas Healthcare Center for the genuine concern and loving care they provided for mom. It was a short time that I knew Mrs. Gonzalez AKA "Grandma" but during the time I was blessed to know her it wasn't hard to notice her cheerfulness, love, humor, and just plain wonderful personality. I will always remember that great big smile every time I'd say hi. Grandma will never be forgotten. Love you grandma.
