Esther M. Simmons, 96
BRUNSWICK - Esther M. Simmons, 96 a longtime resident of 12 Stone Street, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 at Coastal Manor, Yarmouth.
She was born in Edgecomb, Oct. 26, 1918, the daughter of Emory Nelson and Susie May Pitcher Payne. She attended Whitefield schools married Mulford F. Simmons in Gardiner, June 27, 1936. Mr. Simmons died Oct. 14, 1990.
She was a member of Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints, the Relief Society, a Councilor and President of the Relief Society, Sunday School Teacher and a visiting teacher for over 22 years.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, dance and writing poetry.
Mrs. Simmons had her own business for 20 years and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother Maxwell Payne and three sisters, Gladys Potter, Mildred Russell and Eva Ellen Kellett.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Giveen of Brunswick, a son Mulford F (Skip) Simmons, Jr of W. Bath; a brother Nelson E. Payne of Darmariscotta; four grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3:30 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Varney Cemetery, Brunswick, in the spring.

I will forever remember Great Aunt Esther for the sparkle in her eye and the skip in her step. She was a woman of great integrity and full of spirit.
