Memories and Condolences

Not sure what to say?

Dear Mrs. Davidson,
I am so sorry for your loss. I knew you and your husband when I was one of your Home Ec students at South Park back in the 1960's. You were a wonderful teacher that instilled the love of keeping a home, sewing and cooking as well as some business sense into me. You and Mr. Davidson were great vocal additions to the choirs here in Beaumont. I attended your performances with Bill & Bettye Cook. All my best as you go through this difficult time. My love, Jackie (Willis) Holton Beaumont, TX

We remember so many good, fun times in this time of great loss--Horace. I can hear his voice now. Along with the voice are other attributes--kindness, patience, concern, energy, dedication. Do know that we help bear your loss so that this will lighten your burden. Love from Mary Ann and Herman R. Iles

Dear Jane and other family members, We were sad to hear of your loss. Horace served as our Mayor and was a good role model and leader for our City. I served on City Council with Horace. Jane, you were Department Head at Lamar while I was getting my certification to teach. May our Lord wrap His loving arms around you and give you comfort that only He can give. Our prayers are with you.

Dear Jane & Linda/Tom,
I was sorry to see Horace's obituary in today's paper. He was a special guy, very talented, very friendly. Likely you know that Johnny died @ three years ago.

My house in Beaumont is up for sale, & I'm being spoiled living with daughter, Shari,

Don't you know that Horace and Johnny are having a wonderful time....no, wonderful eternity. They always enjoyed each other and sang beautifully.

Are you still playing the piano?

The Davidsons are forever loved,

Jane and family, we are so saddened by the passing of Horace. Both of you meant so much to our church family, and distance has not lessened the love we have felt for both of you. My, what a wonderful marriage to have survived 65 years, with such obvious devotion. We know you will miss him terribly, as each of us has gone through the loss of a beloved spouse. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we are so sorry we are unable to attend the service. Ronnie and Micki Platt

Dear Jane, I feel your sorrow for your loss.

I would like to know if he was a teacher and choir director at Vidor High school in the 50s. If so, I was one of his students in school and at the Navy Reserve. He really was a major example in my life.

If you have the time, I can be contacted at (409) 782-1414.

Dear Jane, I am trying to find out if he was the teacher, choir director in the 50s at Vidor High School. If he was, I was one of his students both at school, church and the Navy Reserve. He was also my math teacher. With his coaching, I was the first mail student to make the All State Choir.

I am deeply sorry for his passing and my prayers go with you.

Dear Jane, John, Linda & Family, I am so thankful that our Lord brought you and Horace into my life at Calvary Baptist Church, in Beaumont, TX. and then at First Baptist Church, Groves. TX. It was a blessing to see and hear John & Linda grow up in Church and remembering Horace working with the youth choir. His orchestrating the "Go and Tell It on The Mountains" with the youth was such an inspiration to so many. Thank you so much for your witness of our Lord Jesus Christ's love. Dear family, please accept our deepest sympathy in your loss. We enjoyed so very much his music ministry at FBC Groves the years he was here. The family became our family but we know we will all meet again one day with Christ. That statement just flooded my mind with all the songs that I remember him singing about Heaven; may his memories live on. Frankie Jeter, Groves, TX

What a full life Mr. Davidson lived! Having been a teenager in his youth choir at First Baptist Church of Groves during my high school years (1965-1969), my love and knowledge of music grew under his direction. As a typical teen, I thought he was awfully strict in the choir room and had no knowledge of his educational, vocational, or military background nor the person he was in total. After all, teens don't think adults have "real" lives like teens do. I can, however, still sing the alto parts of many beautiful hymns which we practiced on those Sunday afternoons and later in the sanctuary. Many of the "specials" we sang are my all-time favorite songs. I am still very moved and humbled by the arrangement of, "Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?" that we learned. Thank you, Mr. Davidson, for you commitment and for putting up with our teenage lack of focus on the music. You made a difference in many young lives. To the family, you are in my prayers at this time of loss. Thank you for such a fine tribute to Mr. Davidson's life and allowing me to know the whole man.
