FRANCISCO "FRANK" CORTEZ HEREDIA

On February 23, 2015, Frank Cortez Heredia passed away peacefully in his sleep in San Diego, California. Frank is survived by his daughter Danielle; father, Francisco Heredia; brothers Armando, Danny, George and Carlos; sisters Naty, Lupe, Maria and Carmen; 21 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Elena Cortez Heredia.
Frank was born in Mexicali, Mexico and was raised in Brawley, California and he attended local schools. Frank attended college at IVC and continued his education at California State University Northridge. At CSUN, Frank received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Mexican American Studies. Frank discovered his passion in the field of Early Child Care and Education in which he worked for over 20 years. He worked as a program director for Camepsinos Unidos in Brawley as well as Affiliated Tribes, an Arizona head start program in Phoenix.
Frank found great happiness in fishing along the canals of Imperial Valley, offroading in the desert, and was truly at peace when he was by the ocean. Frank was an avid watch collector and writer. Frank loved writing poems, a hobby unbeknownst to most. He truly enjoyed and embraced life, which was reflected through the poems he wrote. Frank will be dearly missed and forever loved by all of his family and friends.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, March 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley with rosary at 7 p.m.
Mass will commence at 10 a.m. on Monday morning at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Brawley. He will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery following the service.
