Paul L. Diefendorf
Fishkill - Paul L. Diefendorf was born on November 24, 1930 and died at home on February 26, 2015 in Fishkill.
He was born and raised in Watertown, New York. Tragically, his mother died several days after his birth, leaving the responsibility of his upbringing to his father, later with the help of his step-mother, and his beloved Aunt Edie.
Much of his childhood was spent enjoying the outdoors on a dairy farm. After serving in the Air Force, he was a Correction Office for 25 years at Matteawan Correctional Facility in Beacon, NY. Not one to sit idle, before even beginning his retirement, he worked for Canada Dry and then became the proud owner of two Coca Cola franchises. He was an avid lover of sport, especially basketball and football. He often attended games with his friend, Les. He supported the Kentucky Wildcats, Syracuse Orangemen, Marist Red Foxes, and the Army Black Knights. In addition, he was a lifelong season ticket holder of the NY Football Giants. He kept meticulous handwritten stats for his teams. He also loved Nascar, comic books, and developed an extensive collection of the classics. He was a quiet modest, man's man. He was the type of guy you could strike up a conversation with and feel like you had known him for years.
Paul leaves behind his wife of forty years, Evelyn Vogeltanz Diefendorf. Each other's best friend, they were rarely apart. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their good friends, Wallie and Carol. Although Paul did not have any children of his own, when he married Evelyn he gained for adult step-children , Cynthia Marsh, Vincent Pisco, Thomas Pisco and Debra Antonelli and their spouses, many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was loved by his family, as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Myrtle Diefendorf, his step-mother Jessica Diefendorf, his aunt Edie Diefendorf , his step-son Thomas Pisco and his great granddaughter Morgan Seaman.
