Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Ernest "Sweet" L. Huval, age 92, who passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 7:40 a.m. at his residence in Lafayette. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Mr. Huval was a native of Youngsville and a resident of Lafayette. He was the co-owner of Huval City Service Station for thirteen years and worked in the shipping and receiving department in Lafayette General Hospital with ten years of service. Mr. Huval, the "Chairman," was a handyman who enjoyed fixing and repairing things for family and friends, especially chairs. He was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 82nd Combat Engineers Battalion. Mr. Huval was a loving husband and father. Survivors include his wife of sixty seven years, Mary Esther D. Huval, of Lafayette; two sons, Gerald J. Huval and his wife, Susan, of Arnaudville and Carlan L. Huval of St. Martinville; two daughters, Cherran H. Mouton and her husband, Douglas, of St. Martinville and Janna H. Couvillion and her husband, Rickey, of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Brett J. Huval, Jessica Mouton Lambert, Blake Couvillion, Todd Couvillion and Renee M. Huval; and three great grandchildren, Ali T. Couvillion, Jackson P. Lambert and Olivia Lambert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Remie Huval and the former, Alicia Gary, both natives of Youngsville; and six brothers, Dudley Huval, Lastie Huval, Austin Huval, Oddo Huval, Ally Huval and Lawless Huval. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until service time on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Mr. Ernest Huval to the Miles Perrett Center, 2130 Kaliste Saloom Rd. Ste 200, Lafayette, LA 70508, (337) 984-1920.
