Vera Potter May 26, 1921 - March 8, 2015 GALIEN - Vera F. Potter, age 93, of Galien, died Sunday night, March 8, 2015, At Brentwood of Niles. Vera was born on May 26, 1921, in Galien, Michigan, to Milo and Nina (Schaber) James. She grew up in Galien and was a lifetime resident. She attended Galien High School, graduating in 1939, and then furthered her education at Western Michigan University where she received her BS degree in Education. On June 2, 1945, she married Richard R. Potter at the Olive Branch Church in Galien. Vera was employed with the Galien Twp. School System where she was an elementary teacher for 30 years, retiring on December 17, 1976. She was also a member of MARSP, MEA, NEA, Galien Woods Historical Society, and BCEA. She is survived by her son, James (Sharon) Potter of Washington; grandchildren, Jerry (Christie) Potter of Auburn, Washington, Janelle (Jon) Morrow of Snoqualmie, Washington, Chad (Rachel) Potter of San Diego, California; and great-grand-children Rylee, Brennan, Cy and Rory; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 14, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. from the Pobocik Funeral Home, Three Oaks, Pastor Jeff Cumings officiating. Interment will follow at Galien Cemetery.
