James Shutt Obituary

Jimmy Shutt took his place on the great mandala on March 24, 2015, thereby releasing him from an extreme case of lung cancer. During his brief illness he was given wonderful care at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center and the Hope Cancer Care Center at Longmont United Hospital. Jimmy was born James Robert Shutt on November 9, 1944 to Jerrie Leigh (Britton) and Frank Lester Shutt, Jr. in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was raised in Phoenix, Arizona and Arizona remained the place of his heart throughout his life. After serving in Viet Nam he finished his education at Arizona State University, studying corrections psychology and worked in that field for many years. Later he worked in various roles in the vehicle transportation industry. In 1991 he met the love of his life, Mary Lee Smith (PhD). They retired together in 2010 and moved to Longmont, Colorado. They were married in July, 2014. Jimmy was an avid bird watcher, expert marksman, a novice but enthusiastic golfer and player of the electric bass. He formed strong connections wherever he went. His friends and wife will miss him intensely. In lieu of flowers, Jimmy would want contributions made to the National Audubon Society. A gathering to remember him will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday April 2nd at his home, 539 Baker Street, Longmont. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
