Caroline Vuckovich Obituary

Caroline G. "Geri" Vuckovich

CRESTLINE: Caroline G. "Geri" Vuckovich 89, of Crestline died Thursday April 2, 2015 at Magnolia Terrace, Galion.

She was born March 7, 1926 in Bucyrus to the late Nicholas and Catherine (Vincentini) Caporini. The happiest years of her life were when she was married to the love of her life, Joe Vuckovich whom she married on November 24, 1947 and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2000.

Geri, as she was known to her friends, helped operate and run the former Westlake Inn to the west of Crestline with Joe. After that, she worked at General Electric and Shelby Business Forms before eventually retiring from White Westinghouse to enjoy retirement with her husband.

She was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline. She loved participating in the Mass and the Holy Eucharist. Geri celebrated life with a joyful smile, a very generous heart and a contagious wit. She never met a stranger. She loved being around her grandchildren and especially enjoyed attending their sporting events. Geri loved dancing, cooking & baking, sewing & crocheting and all types of yard work, especially gardening. Geri loved sitting on her patio gazing out on her bird feeder while the birds entertained her. It was very, very hard to beat her at "Trouble."

She is survived by her four daughters: Paula and Kevin Willis of Crestline, Rita Solowey of Wichita, KS, Carol and Marshall Taylor of Mansfield, and Linda and Rich Beck of Olathe, KS, her nine grandchildren: Robin Bolen, Ryan Bolen, Megan (Dave) Verhoff, Erin (Sean) Franks, Carli McConnaughy, Ron (Michelle) Studer, Andrea Cole, Talie Smith and Kayla Taylor, her eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her four sisters: Julia Tomasi, Mary Bores, Inez Obermiller, Ida Vaccare; and her two brothers, Angelo and Gino Caporini.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 West Main Street, Crestline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Tuesday April 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline with Rev. Chris Bohnsack, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church in care of the funeral home.

Geri was a very good friend of my mother, Ellie Ryder. They worked together at Westinghouse. Mom thought so much of Geri and bought many fine pieces of jewelry from the family business. She passed away March 31 of 2001. I would attend your services, but am out of state this week and only know of Geri's passing because my aunts called me. May God bless you in this time of loss.

Aunt Geri was a wonderful lady, aunt and godmother. Being in her home, surrounded by love will always be a memory I will always cherish. Linda, Carol, Rita and Paula you are in my thoughts and prayers. May God bring you comfort during this time.

Love your cousin,
