STANLEY - Margaret Addie Toney Jonas, 86, a longtime former resident of Delview Road in Cher-ryville, passed away Thursday evening, April 2, 2015 at Stanley Total Living Center.
She was born July 1, 1928 in Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Lorenzo Yates Toney and Lona McFarland Toney. She was a graduate of Sunshine High School and a member of First Baptist Church in Cherryville for 50 years.
She retired from Blackwelder Textiles in Cherryville in December of 1992 after 18 years of service as a yarn inspector. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Jonas.
She is survived by her son, Timothy Ralph Jonas and wife Sarah of Belmont; brothers, Forest Toney and wife Nancy of Bostic; Hubert Toney and wife Rita of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Ruth Newton and husband Alvin of Bostic, Nell Toney Earley of Forest City, and Barbara Toney Toms and husband John of Shelby; two granddaughters, Lauren Elizabeth Jonas of Charleston, S.C., and Michelle Jonas Espinosa of Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will held at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Cherryville, with the Rev. Dr. Vince D. Hefner and the Rev. Ivan R. Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Cherryville City Cemetery.
The visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service, from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at First Bap-tist Church in Cherryville.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Stanley Total Living Center in Stan-ley for their compassion and diligence in the care given to Ms. Jonas.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in memory of Ms. Jonas to Stanley Total Living Center, 514 Old Mount Road, Stanley, NC 28164; or First Baptist Church, 301 East 1st Street, Cherryville, NC 28021.
