Born Nov. 15, 1930 in Fall River, MA, to the late Thomas and Katherine Hague, Mr. Hague was proud to be a long-time Cape Cod resident.
He enjoyed riding his bicycle 30 miles a day and walking, especially on West Dennis Beach. He also enjoyed scuba-diving and collecting antiques and coins.
In the 1960’s, Mr. Hague staged a weekly dance for teenagers called “Teen Town.” It was his way of helping the younger generation enjoy Friday nights dancing to live bands in a positive setting.
He owned and operated Thomas F. Hague Landscaping for many years, and could be seen around town in his red International truck, always giving a friendly beep on the horn and wave to friends.
After retiring from landscaping, he opened the Seagull Treasure Chest, buying and selling antiques and collectibles. He enjoyed interacting with customers and discovering new “treasures”.
His mission for the past 25 years was to collect bottles and cans to raise funds for the homeless and needy at the Pine Street Inn in Boston. Each year at Christmas, he would send a check for $500 to the Inn, funds he raised, collecting up to 10,000 bottles and cans annually.
Mr. Hague also stayed active by helping the elderly, running errands, doing their shopping and stopping in to visit and talk. His friends and family know that he certainly had “the gift of gab.”
Mr. Hague loved to travel and visit his children. He was always eager to get out and explore all the communities that he visited.
Mr. Hague is survived by his eight children – Gail Smith of Palm Bay, FL; Linda Brum of Glendale, AZ; Diane Hague of Hyannis;
Thomas (Michelle) Hague III of Brewster; Cindy (Nelson) Prada of Royce City, TX; Mark (Shannon) Hague of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Donna Jean Hague of Palm Bay, FL, and Melissa (Gabe) Hennessey of Harwich. He is further survived by his brother, Ron (Angela) Hague Sr., sister Joan Arrigan, 11 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be Friday, June 12, at Doane, Beal & Ames So. Dennis from 4-7 PM.
