A funeral service for Mary M. Lane, 84 of Newark will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Pierpoint officiating.

Mrs. Lane died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born August 27, 1930 in Newark to George and Hazel (Peasley) Martin.

She retired in 1993 as a quality control inspector from American National Can with 20 years of service. She was a member of Licking Aerie #387 F.O.E. She was active with the Girl Scout program for many years. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time at the beach. Her favorite times were spent with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Charles H. Lane, whom she married January 18, 1975; children, Sharon O’Reilly of St. Louisville, Melody Penick of St. Petersburg, FL, Cheryl Maier of Hanover, Tom (Cheri) Penick of Newark, Dave Penick of Newark, Vickie (Jim) Abbott of Newark, Jennie Penick of Newark; grandchildren, Michael (Rachael) O’Reilly, Christopher (Kendra) O’Reilly, Bridget Pierce, Angel (Gary) Sidle, Chris (Tiffany) Lawrence, Robert Harmon, Danielle Maier, Brianna Humphries, Robert (Jamie) Hutchison, Christine Penick, Brandi (Dana) Crowe, Aaron (Gretchen) Penick, Jessica Penick, Felica Penick, Brian Bailey, Lily Penick, Jason Gosnell, Sara Abbott, Jeramy (Angela) Fowler; great-grandchildren, Austin, Tanner, Kelsey, Jack, Alexanderia, Ashley, Wade, Kylie, Lorelei, Christopher, Sophie Booker, Hunter, Dylan, Riley, Brody Gaskill, Taih Tomcisin, Kayleigh, Kelsey, Kolton, Taylor, Madyson, Hensley, Kesean, Kaleaha, Kesara, Kaira, Chearity, Cerise, Keira, Brayson, Grace, Lily, Kailyn, Madelyn, Lukas; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Martin, George Martin; sister, Tillie Huff; son, Johnny Penick; granddaughter, Stephanie Conley.

Calling hours will be observed Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 1850 West Main Street, Newark. Eagles will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m.

The family requests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Central Ohio or Licking County Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
