To the Halkides family,
I had the privilege of playing drums in Jack's band in the early to mid seventies, and also in the recent past. As a young jazz musician, to be called by Jack for a gig was an honor. He played at our wedding and called me up to sit in. He made me laugh every time I was around him and I learned something from him every time I played with him in the band. He will be missed by many musicians and friends forever. Rest in peace old friend.

Jack had a very big heart, and helped so many young musicians. I will always be grateful that he took me under his wing, and let me play in his band when I was a young man in college. He gave me a deep and life long appreciation for jazz music. I am so glad I got to see him at his extremely well attended tribute event a couple years ago. He touched the lives of so many, and I am so fortunate to have been one of them.
