Charlotte Eileen Stevenson, 93, formerly of Quincy and Perry, died Thursday, April 2, 2015.
Charlotte, beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister and close friend to many, was born March 1, 1922, to Orloe B. Starnes and Gertrude (Kroner) Starnes in Quincy. She married James Donald Stevenson on Dec. 29, 1941, after finishing Quincy High School, and began her lifelong career as homemaker to her grateful family. Charlotte and Don visited and lived in many fascinating places across America, Europe and South America. They lived for years in São Paulo, Brazil, and in Mexico City. When Don retired in 1975, they settled in the Village of Perry in Pike County to take care of Charlotte's parents. In 2007 they moved to Bloomington, Ind., to be closer to their son, Randehl, and his wife, Janis. Charlotte is survived by her husband of 73 years and three months; her sons and their wives, James Jr. and Christine, who live in Benicia, Calif., and Randehl K. and Janis, who are residents of Bloomington; her five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Bert Starnes of Quincy and Donald Starnes of Payson. All of us who knew her mourn her passing, yet we are comforted by our memories of her remarkably loving, friendly, faithful, caring, engaging and quick-witted ways.
