It is amazing as I read down the page and see how many people from other states, respond to the passing of Mr. May. How they remember him, his Water Ice Truck in and around Chester, especially down at Memorial Park at the baseball games. Me myself can still see the truck with a picture of a water ice and the prices of 10, 15, and 25 cent on it. Him scooping up the ice with that flat scooper, keeping up with the demand of us children. Mr. May you were truly loved by so many. And you are already missed.

Mr. May was simply a great man and a Delaware County treasure. He was a fixture at our annual sports dinners for the Delaware County Athletes Hall of Fame. May angels lead him and the Good Lord provide comfort and strength to all who knew him and loved him.

Mr. Samuel May, Sr. embraced the phrase that once adorned our mid city skyline "What Chester Makes, Makes Chester". He poured his love and finances into a city/community that he loved. He was untiring and dutiful, especially within the Parker Street area. Many people showed their appreciation to him by their longevity and continued patronage from childhood into adulthood at Mays Water Ice. You would often see cars from near and far waiting for a Mays Water Ice. Only smiles grace our face when we think of Mr. Samuel May. Hence, rest from your labor Mr. May; we will miss you tremendously!!!!.....Until we meet again!!!!
