WITTEN, Raymond Fred of Flint Age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 19, 2015 after a brief illness. Per his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial will be held 11AM Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Visitation will be held 10AM until time of service on Thursday. Raymond was born November 23, 1933 in Flint, Michigan the son of the late Frank and Merle May (McKenzie) Witten. He was the youngest of five children. Raymond was a graduate of Flint Central High School and a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served in Korea as a telephone installer. After his discharge he returned to flint to work at AC Delco and was a member of UAW Local 651, retiring after 39 years. Ray was an avid fisherman, golfer and bowler. He enjoyed old movies, container gardening on his deck and listening to bluegrass music. He liked to tinker around in his woodworking shop, as well as spend time with his cat Angie. His Christmas spaghetti was a Witten tradition. He enjoyed his life with his family and friends and he always had a story to tell and memories to share. He was looking forward to summer and teaching his grandson to golf. He leaves behind those who will love and miss him, including his wife of 33 years, Madelon (Wallace) (Gibbs) Witten, his son Todd Raymond and his wife Felicia, his daughter Terrie Ray and her partner Robert Bouchard, and grandson Andrew Raymond; Madelon's children, Terry Gibbs and his daughter Jennifer Gibbs, Chris Gibbs, Deborah Gibbs-Halm and her sons, Aaron, Derek, Brian Halm; many cousins, nieces, nephews; their families as well as many close friends. Raymond was also preceded in death by his sisters Lillian Sweet and husband Charles, Bonnie Jean Martell and husband Clifford, Beatrice "Bootie" Walters and husband Clyde, brother Carl Herbert Witten and his wife Sheila.
