COLLINE BAKER
CARROLLTON — Colline Myrtle Baker, 91, of Carrollton, and formerly of Carlinville, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the White Hall Nursing and Rehab. She was born June 22, 1923, in Kincaid, to Richard B. and Nellie E. (Hughes) Johnson. She married W. Wayne Baker on April 15, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo., and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn (Leslie) Moran of Carrollton, and Donna Langley of Carlinville; two sisters, Shirley Carsten of Pontiac and Linda Pennington of Carlinville; one brother, Lloyd Johnson of Metamora; 12 grandchildren, 41 great- grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Gary Wayne Baker, two brothers, Herbert Johnson and Richard Johnson; four sisters: Fern Whitlock, Betty Thaxton, Doreen Johnson and Marie Odam; and one grandson, Larry Moran.
She worked at the Glove Factory, Rudolphs and Leffleman's Laundry. She was a cook and a baker. She was a model for Queensway clothes. She was a member of the Silver Strands in Palmyra, Greenfield Lions Club and Ladies Auxiliary. She played in a "Kitchen" band, loved music and dancing, and writing poetry.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29. Burial will follow at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery near Carlinville. Memorials are suggested to the Greenfield Lions Club, Blessing Hospice or donor's choice.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Connie for very long, but in the short time I knew her, her zest for life touched me very deeply. She was an extraordinary lady, and I am so glad to have met her, however brief the time was. My condolences for your loss.
