GREGORY MARDEN Obituary

GREGORY "GREG" L. MARDEN, 58, passed away peacefully Monday, April 27, 2015, at his home surrounded by his wife and children. Born in Marion, Ind., Greg was a Vietnam Era Army veteran serving in the Military Police. Greg proudly served as a Fort Wayne Police Officer and K/9 Officer as well as being involved in various departments during his 31.5 year career. He also worked at FWCS for 25 years as a security officer before retiring in 2011. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, North American Police Work Dog Association, and PBA. Greg enjoyed coaching baseball for his sons and others for 15 years. His other hobbies were fishing, watching the Reds but most importantly spending time with his beloved family. Surviving are his wife of 36.5 years, Donette Marden of Fort Wayne; mother, Betty Marden of Fort Wayne; children, Joseph (Michelle) Marden, Bobby (Heather) Marden and Julie (Corey) Porter, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Jillian, Cooper and Lucas Marden; and siblings, Stephen (Cherie Mazany) Marden of Marion, Barbara Southerland of Fort Wayne, Sue Dilley and Karen (Gary) Clendenin, both of Marion, Cathy Flores of Tinley Park, Ill., Debra Marden and Tammy (Chuck) Parent, both of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Marden; and brother, Michael Marden. A Celebration of Greg's life is 2 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Dr. Steven Roper officiating. Calling also from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Parkway Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256; or to the family of Greg Marden c/o Donette Marden.
