Marion Owen Hudspeth GOOSE CREEK - Marion Owen Hudspeth, 82, of Goose Creek, SC, widow of Joe Bob Hudspeth died Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2015, in the Pinecrest Baptist Church, 1285 Ashley Hall Road, Charleston, SC 29407, at 2:00 pm. The inurnment will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL. Marion was born September 30, 1932 in Atlanta, GA, daughter of the late Orland M. Owen and the late Willie Lee Hayes Owen. She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was Past Matron of James Island Chapter #284, OES, graduated from Memminger High School, attended College of Charleston and graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Marion taught school at Mt. Pleasant First Baptist School, Citadel Square Baptist School, Rantowles Baptist School, Harvest Baptist School, Riverbend Christian Academy and Good News Christian School. She served as Church Secretary for several churches in the Charleston Association and was President of the SC State Baptist Secretaries Association in 1997. She served several years as a volunteer at Lifeway Ridgecrest Conference Center in Ridgecrest, NC. She is survived by three daughters, Karan Beatty (Loren), Janice Davis all of Charleston, SC and Peggy Hudspeth of Goose Creek, SC; six grandchildren, Felicia Richard, Jonathan Ackerman, Daniel Ackerman, Ashley Hudspeth, Amber Davis, Tiffany Hudspeth; great-grandsons, Dominic Middleton, Chase David Sweat, Jaelyn Sweat; great-granddaughters, Kira Ackerman, Caroline Ackerman, Annsley Grace Mitchell; sister, Margaret O. Blizard; brother, Orland (Skip) Owen both of Charleston, SC; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, John David Hudspeth. Memorials may be made to the Eastern Star Religious Education Scholarship Fund (ESTARL) c/o Joyce Wiggins, 1268 Honeysuckle Lane, Charleston, SC 29412.
