Vera M. Friedl, 89, of 396 Chestnut St., St. Marys, died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Nov. 27, 1925 in St. Marys, daughter of the late August and Clara Kerner Dippold.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Public Schools. She retired in 1983 from the Stackpole Carbon Company. Vera was a member of the St. Mary's Church where she was instrumental in the formation of the funeral bereavement luncheons and the Rainbow counseling ministry. She was also a member of the Altar Society.
Vera is survived by her husband, Donald J. Friedl, whom she married many years ago in the St. Mary's Church. She is also survived by her son, Dale Duell and his wife Cindy of Byrnedale; and a grandson, Matthew E. Duell and his wife Jessica.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly J. Duell; and four sisters, Ada Clonan, Rita Azzato, Grace Geyer, and Annette Gerg. She was the last member of her immediate family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Vera M. Friedl will be celebrated in the St. Mary's Church on Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Alfred Patterson, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday evening, May 8 from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Mary's Church Altar Society, 325 Church St., St. Marys, Pa. 15857 or to the Elk Haven Nursing Home, 785 Johnsonburg Rd., St. Marys, Pa. 15857.
