Bernard R. Wood Jr., 55, of Centerport, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, in his residence surrounded by his loving family, after a three-year battle with cancer.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Bernard R. Wood Sr. and Mary Ann (Stock) Wood, New Tripoli.
Bernard worked for Bill Geist Construction for about 10 years.
He was a member of Tri-County Wing Snappers, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR and the Washington Redskins.
Bernard is survived by a son, Brett M. Wood, Schuylkill County; five sisters: Pamela A. (Wood), wife of Timothy J. O'Boyle, Shoemakersville, who was also his caregiver; Karen M. (Wood), wife of Kenneth Arters, Exeter; Holly A. (Wood), widow of the late Thomas Bucks, Mt. Penn; Catherine M. (Wood), wife of Frank Huyard Jr., Mohrsville; and Patricia A. (Wood) Balthaser, companion of Thomas Baker, West Lawn.
Bernard is also survived by a brother, William Wood, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and his best friends: Mitch, Brian M., Dave, Bryan and Diana.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, PA 19533. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Life Choice Hospice, 10 Zion's Church Rd., Suite 204, Shoemakersville, PA 19555.
