PIQUA — June E. Callebs, 90, of Piqua, went home to be with the Lord at 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday May 13, 2015 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Piqua on Sept. 27, 1924 to the late Timothy E. and Nellie (Fitzsimmons) Lyman.
On Sept. 12, 1944 in Pineville, Ky., she married Sie C. Callebs, and he survives. Their devoted marriage spanned over the last 71 years.
June is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy M. and Kaye Callebs, Piqua; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie Jo and William Manning, Piqua; four grandchildren, Mike (Julie) Manning, Piqua, Tim (Kelli) Callebs, Fort Wayne, Ind., Tracy (Brandon) Heidkamp, Mason, and Joe (Joan) Manning, Vandalia; and ten great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard Lyman, John Lyman, Robert Lyman and William "Red" Lyman; three sisters, Dorothy Kennedy, Mary Orr and Helen Shoemaker; and one daughter-in-law, Sandy Glenn Callebs.
June was a member of Victory Baptist Church, Piqua. She worked at Toy Factory for five years and at Sefton Fiber Container for 11 years. June was a very devoted wife and mother. Her life's greatest treasures were her grandchildren. June was a great cook and was a very loving and giving person.
She was also a long time cancer survivor for 46 years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 15, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua, with Rev. Larry Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County P.O. Box 502 in Troy, or The Salvation Army 129 S. Wayne St. in Piqua.
