LORAIN – Roosevelt Franklin Johnson, 81, of Lorain, Ohio passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at Mercy New Life Hospice following a brief illness.
He was born October 14, 1933 in Switchback, West Virginia and had lived in the Lorain area since 1957.
After graduating from Elkhorn High School, he entered into the United States Navy. He received an Electronic degree from the National Radio Electronic School.
He was a former member of Switchback Memorial Baptist Church and recently reaffirmed his faith.
He was employed by the Lorain Plant of Ford Motor Company until he retired after 36 years of service. He was member of UAW Local # 425.
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling and cars. He played with the Thomas Plumbing Softball Team.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years Jacqueline Johnson( nee Thornhill), two daughters Sharron (Willie) Farris of Columbus, OH, and Carol Kennedy of London, England, one son Steven (Lizette) Johnson of St. Petersburg, FL., one sister Estella (John) Vaughn of Troy, OH; two grandsons Steven Johnson and Iniko Ridgeway, 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents George and Genoria Johnson, four sisters Euretta Mae Johnson, Mable Hagwood, Martha Manuel and June Myers, three brothers Stanley, Henry and Allen Johnson.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 11:00 until time of services at 12:00 PM at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3501 Kolbe Rd, Lorain, OH.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon,OH on Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

Mrs. jJackie, we will miss his kindness, all that good fish he would fried for everyone. Most of all the talks, wisdom and his compassion. We have so many good memories . Mr. Roosevelt welcome everyone and treated them like family. He was dedicated to his family and was always there for everybody. Now he is resting in paradise without any pain or suffering.
