Charles "Paul " Chuck'' Reeves , 77, passed away peacefully at the Compassionate Care Center on May 14, 2015.
He was born Nov. 11, 1937 in Cleveland OH. to his late parents Robert F. Reeves and Wilhelmina Reeves and grew up in Mentor OH.
He was co-captain of the Mentor HS football team which never lost a game in the 6 years that he was a member. His early years were spent hunting and fishingin the surrounding wildlife area. After graduation from Mentor HS and three years in the Army he began a career in business.
He was manager of the first discount store in northern OH and met his wife, Sue Ann Jett while she was teaching in Euclid, OH. A move to Richmond KY in 1967 was a happy change of environment from the city to the beautiful Bluegrass Region where he could once again hunt and fish. He enjoyed the small town atmosphere and made many new friends while raising his two children, Amy Louise and Paul Charles. He retired as buyer from the Begley Drug Co. when it was bought out by Rite Aid and began volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. He and one or two other men built homes in Lexington, Berea and Richmond. He was very involved in Habitat serving on the local board. When the Jimmy Carter Build came to Madison and surrounding counties, the summer of 1997, he served as supply head and organized a warehouse where all building materials were stored and checked out to send to all house building sites. For his work in this project, he was awarded an Honorary KY Colonel. Finally when he learned that a free standing Hospice Compassionate Care Center was to be built here in Richmond, in 2007, he volunteered to help set up the center and swept the floors and organized the supply room. He continued volunteering at the center three days a week and loved the doctors, nurses, staff, and co-volunteers. He was noted for baking and bringing desserts and other foods to the CCC when he volunteered. He felt at peace when he returned there to die among those who loved him.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack, Norm, Bob, Larry and sisters, Marie Hersman, Hazel Roberts and his favorite aunt Dorothea Hutcheson and dear father in law, Paul Jett.
His survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Sue Ann Jett Reeves, his daughter Amy (Mike Debord) of Richmond, son Paul (Janet) of Albuquerque NM and sister, Lucy Hagara of Mentor, OH. He adored his grandchildren, Jessica Williams, Danville, Carter Paul Brandenburg, Richmond, and Abigail L. Reeves and Eli W. Reeves of Albuquerque NM. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and hunting buddies.
The family especially wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, staff and co-workers at the Compassionate Care Center who so lovingly showed their support, love and compassion through his last 8 years of life and death.
A memorial service will be performed at 3:30, May 30, 2015, with Hospice Chaplin, Jim Baldwin officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until time of the service which will take place at the Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home, Richmond, KY.

Chuck was one of my dearest friends. He was always a delight to be around, and will be sorely missed by all who loved him. My thoughts & prayers are with his family at this time. We shared many memories for 45 yrs. when I lived in Richmond.
