Gloria Donsing
1924 - 2015
Gloria Donsing, 91, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015.
She was born in Kenosha, Wis., in 1924, and lived there until 2002 when she moved to Madison to be close to family.
Gloria grew up on an inlet of Lake Michigan, and the lake gave her a deep appreciation for the natural world. She had the great skill of living very much in the present, always noticing things like a beautiful cloud or flower. Gloria was perceptive, had a great sense of curiosity, and constantly challenged her mind. That curiosity extended to the greater world, as she and her husband Baden traveled extensively, including a walk on the Great Wall of China. Gloria was strong, decisive and lived independently. She thoroughly enjoyed her community of friends at the Sauk Gardens Apartments and maintained a particularly close group of friends in Kenosha since her junior high school days.
Gloria's survivors include her sons, Alan (Susan Felker-Donsing) Donsing and Thomas (Kathleen) Donsing, and her grandson, James, all of the Madison area.
She was preceded in death by Baden, her husband of 45 years.
Gloria died with real courage and grace. She wished to extend her most sincere thanks and best wishes to all her family and friends. She was also very appreciative of the excellent care she received at Madison's UW Hospital during her final brief illness. Services will be private. Alan and family, it has been a long time but I have fond memories of you and your parents. Though we have drifted apart my appreciation has not. The last time I saw your Mother was when mine passed.
God bless Gloria and the elders of our shrinking family. Michael Weiss
