Emilie A. Policastro
AGE: 48 • Holmdel
Emilie A. Policastro, age 48, of St. Thomas, USVI and Holmdel, NJ, died on June 4, 2015, in Red Bank, NJ. Emilie Policastro was born March 1, 1967 to Myra Jean Thompson and Gregory Policastro in New York City. She was a 1985 graduate of Holmdel High School and graduated from the University of Richmond in 1989. Emilie, who was affectionately known as "Em", was the fourth of four children. She was the baby. Consequently, it was widely rumored that she was the favorite and could simply do no wrong. Growing up in Holmdel, with limited effort Emilie excelled in school, particularly in Math and French. Athletically, she was as good as she wanted to be on any given day and loved competition on all fronts.
Emilie worked as an accountant at Sheraton, in NYC, and Hilton Hotels in Woodbridge, NJ, for most of her career, before journeying to St. Thomas to work for Flatley's Foodservice as an import specialist. Emilie resided in Sea Bright, NJ for most of her life where she enjoyed the ocean, sand and sea breeze. She loved Bruce Springsteen, calligraphy and she was a devoted New York Mets fan, literally, to the end. Most of all, beyond all else, Emilie loved to laugh.
Emilie defined the notion of free-spiritedness, and exuded compassion for others at all costs. Invariably, she hit the sweet gene on all cylinders, with full abandon, putting others before herself. Emilie knew she was a good one, which made it ever so sweet.
With love, admiration, enormous loss, and gratitude for your indelible way of making us feel your love Em.
Emilie is survived by her mother, Myra Jean Policastro; sister, Monica Policastro; brothers, Andrew Policastro and Marc Policastro; cousins, William C. Thompson, James S. Thompson, Kevin H. Thompson, Kathryn Thompson Amatrudo, Allison Thompson, Paolo (Policastro) Zinno and Bernardino (Policastro) Zinno, and, her love, Jack Gotti. Emilie was preceded in death by her father, Gregory Policastro.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Em was a sweet, kind and genuine friend. Although we lost touch after 8th grade graduation, Em and I were friends for many years before that playing softball and basketball and going to basketball camp. She was a part of so many of my favorite childhood memories and I will never forget her. My heartfelt sympathies and prayers to her family and friends.

Em was a really cool and laid-back person. I can only remember how she would hang for hours around all us idiots like she was one of the guys.
Policastro family I very sorry for your loss, she will be missed but the memories are always there.

Dear Myra and family,
It's your cousin Nancy, Aunt Ethel and Uncle Clayton's daughter.
I was searching for your address and, sadly, found myself here. I am so sorry to read of the loss of beautiful Emilie. I remember all of your sweet beautiful chidren from when they came to Roanoke Rapids to visit the grandparents. Those were good days.
