When I think of Ed Watt these things stand out the most: his steadfast faithfulness, his warm gentle friendliness and hospitality, his beautiful love of children, his witty one-liners, his kindness and gentleness, his lack of guilenever speaking evil of others, his seeming agelessness (he looked the same year after year for many years), and most of all the sincerity of his faith in Jesus Christ which resulted in a legacy of a life well lived. Now that the silver cord is loosed and Ed has slipped out of his earth suit I know that he has joined the great cloud of witnesses who are rooting us on to glory. I found myself at his funeral praying to God saying: Lord, I want Ed to be among the ones in my welcoming committee when I get to heaven. I pray I may live a life like his and love as he has loved. Ed, I know God has heard my silent prayer at your funeral service and when my work is done and I slip into eternity and step on the celestial shores I fully expect to see a younger version of you there to greet me and welcome me into the celestial kingdom along with all those loved ones and friends who have gone on before me. I say with all those whose lives you have touched with God's love Well done thou good and faithful servant. Now enter in to the joy of your rest. Lord willing Ed, I'll see you when my work is done.
