There have been few men of whom I can say as Christ said of Nathaniel, Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. Don was exemplary in all that he did a perfect gentleman at all times. I was a neighbor and co-worker with him for several years. What a good example he set for me and others.

Don was a good friend to us and many others who worked at Mammoth Cave. He often ended his tours with the following, which is our wish for Don and his family:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
