Edith Annette Schreppler
AGE: 90 • Middletown
Edith Annette Stafford Schreppler, 90, a lifelong resident of Middletown, died on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at her residence. Born on October 28, 1924 in Middletown, DE, Ann was the daughter of the late Frances (Cochran) and Albert Isaac Stafford.
Ann graduated from Middletown High School, Class of 1942 and was captain of the basketball team and Valedictorian. She received secretarial training at Beacom College. Ann worked for the B&O Railroad in Wilmington, commuting from Middletown by train. For more than 50 years she worked as a secretary in her husband's real estate business, George B. Schreppler Company, in Middletown, where she was also a licensed real estate agent.
Ann was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Annes Episcopal Church, which she attended all of her life.
In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Schreppler, Jr. and her sister, Elizabeth France.
She is survived by four sons, George B. III and his wife Janet, of Townsend; Jack of Wilmington; Tom and his wife, Cynthia, of Chestertown, MD; and James and his companion Betsi Lamoureux of Millsboro; a brother Jim (Skip) Stafford of Allentown, PA, her niece Tricia Stafford Cabrey and her husband John, of Lansdale, PA; seven grandchildren, Michael and his wife Tiffany, Nathan and his wife Virginia, Sydney, Hayley, John, James and Julia; four great grandchildren, Gavin, Georgia, Luke and Isabella; her devoted friend and fellow parishioner, Grace George; and her "inside cat," Tom Cat, who now resides with Ann's faithful caregiver, JoAnne Tereszouk.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27 at St. Annes Episcopal Church, 15 East Green Street in Middletown. Family and Friends may visit Friday evening, June 26 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, DE. Interment will be in Forest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Anne's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 421, Middletown, DE, or to any no-kill animal shelter.
