Louis E "Buddy" Van Hoof Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Louis E. "Buddy" Van Hoof, Jr. at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2015, in St. Martin Catholic Church, LeCompte, with Rev. Adam Travis officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015; and will resume on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Kramer Chapel by Rev. Dan O'Connor.
Louis E. "Buddy" Van Hoof, Jr, 85 of LeCompte, entered eternal rest on Monday, June 29, 2015, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He is preceded in death by his son, Glenn David Van Hoof; his parents, Louis E. Van Hoof, Sr., and Mary Annie Andries Van Hoof; and his sisters, Mary Sabine Van Hoof Wilmore, Lois Van Hoof Chesser, and Mildred Van Hoof.
Buddy was a lifelong Catholic and maintained a deep faith. He previously served as a member of the United States Navy Reserves. Buddy retired from the United States Postal Service after many years as a mail carrier and maintained an active retirement life, enjoying many interests. He always enjoyed developing new knowledge and skills, including home gardening, developing his pecan orchard, and oil and acrylic painting and drawing. Buddy was also a founding member of the local Belgian-American Club.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Joyce Andries Van Hoof; his daughter, Paula Van Hoof Beaver and her husband Alton; three sons, Louis E. "Buddy" Van Hoof, III and his wife Cheryl, Ricky L. Van Hoof and his wife Susan, and James C. "Charlie" Van Hoof and his wife Kathy; nine grandchildren, Alison Beaver, Lisa Van Hoof Futch, Kristin Van Hoof Williams, Jeremy Van Hoof, Kimberly Van Hoof Ward, Cynthia Van Hoof Dean, Katie Van Hoof Peterson, Jacob Van Hoof, and Will Van Hoof; and nine great - grandchildren, Hudson Williams, Savannah Ward, Carson Ward, Dylon Van Hoof, Kylee Van Hoof, Payton Van Hoof, Blake Dean, Tatum Dean, and Tristin Dean.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Daniel Williams, Jeremy Van Hoof, Greg Ward, Jacob Van Hoof, Will Van Hoof, and Matt Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be his great- grandsons, and James Lee.
The family wishes to extend a sincere Thank You to the staff of Gamble Hospice; to Dr. Abi Rached and his staff, and to Dr. Mohamed R. Hajmurad, for all of the care and compassion that was shown to Buddy.
