David W. Keim, 55, of Fogelsville, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Lucy Greenawalt Keim with whom he celebrated 30 years of marriage in May. Dave was born on October 12, 1959 in Reading, a son of Jean A. Conrad Keim of Kempton and the late Frank Keim. He was a graduate of Kutztown High School and shortly thereafter began a 34 year career with Lehigh Valley Plastics, Bethlehem, until retirement in July of 2015. Through hard work and determination, Dave rose through the ranks beginning as a carpenter later holding various positions within management and sales, in addition to serving as the company President. His consideration of others formed long lasting friendships and his integrity and tremendous drive inspired many. Dave was fun loving and found time to enjoy life. He loved the outdoors, hunting, golfing and sports. He was an avid Phillies fan, one of the many passions shared with his family. Most importantly, he was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was a member of the Kempton Fire Co., Kempton Rod and Gun Club, IAPD (International Association of Plastics Distributors) where he served on the Board of Directors, Education and Editorial Committees, PICE (Pennsylvania Institute for Conservation Education), and volunteered for the former Bavarian Festival of Barnesville with family and friends. He was also a member of Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, Kutztown, where he served on church council and cemetery board. In addition to his beloved wife Lucy and his mother Jean, Dave is survived by his only child and loving son, Andy; 1 brother Dana and his wife Krista of Bowers; 2 sisters, Deborah DeWolfe and husband Eric of Kutztown, Denise Fenstermacher and husband Tod of Maxatawny; 4 nieces and sister-in-law, Louise Greenawalt. Family and friends are invited to a viewing Monday, July 13, from 2-4 pm at the Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, 340 Moselem Church Rd, Kutztown, PA 19530. Funeral services will follow at 4 pm in the church with Pastor Linda Zawaski presiding. Burial will be private. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Schmidt Funeral Home, P.C., 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in David's memory may be offered to the church. Dear Keim family,
I am deeply saddened by Dave's passing. When he called me a few weeks ago, to share that the cancer had returned, and he was stepping away from Lehigh to focus on his health, in a way that only Dave could do, he thought first of others.
I met Dave nine years ago when I joined the IAPD staff. Dave always brightened the room with his contagious smile, laughter and positive outlook. Often quiet, when he did speak in a group setting, it was always profound. He saved his words for when they really mattered.
I have never met a man who was everyone's friend, until I met Dave. He treated everyone as important, and always had an authentic compliment or kind word to say.
His contributions to IAPD, the plastics industry and our community will always be remembered. We lost a truly incredible man.
I pray that God gives you comfort. Dave's friends at IAPD are always here for your family.

Keim Family - my condolences in your loss. Dave was a role model of what a 'man' should be when I was a teen. He and Lyle and Scott were the people us younger guys wanted to be when we got older. Strong, positive, funny, confident men, who worked hard and loved life. Dave respected others, looked out for the 'little guy' and always had a kind word. As I said, he was a great role model of what a man should be. I only worked with him a few years but they were at an important time for me. The Keim Family is wonderful, and I am sorry for your loss. We'll see Dave on the far side no doubt.

Dave's family,
In your struggles to understand why I hope you find some comfort knowing Dave's impact and memory will last many lifetimes. He was truly a great man. His priorities were always visible. His family was clearly at the top of the list. That's not something that happens by accident. He learned that from his family and has passed that on for generations to follow. He was truly a great businessman. He had no enemies and maintained a level of professionalism and likability unheard of in business today. For more than 25 years he showed us all that openness and trustworthiness weren't buzzwords. They were essential. He was truly a great friend. From good times on the golf course to our holiday dinners, Dave's smile and laugh will always be remembered. Even that last telephone conversation two weeks ago during which he told me about the new battle he faced, I still heard and saw that smile. Thank you for sharing him with those of us who called him a friend. There are a lot of us and we are all better from it.

To your entire family our hearts are filled with a deep sympathy at your loss. Dave was one of my first customers I befriended for what seemed like a life long journey 25 years ago. The days of fishing with Andy and my sons are memories that will be forever cherished. Whether it was business, golfing, cards, fishing Dave was there with his BIG smile and kind words. His was a gentle and kind soul. His memories will live forever in our hearts. God's speed David.

Dear Lucy and Andy, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. Jayne and I got to know Dave through our +25 years in plastics, along with spending 9 years living in the Kutztown area. Dave was a special person, always prepared to enjoy himself and enjoy the people around him every day. My relationship with David expanded when we shared time on the IAPD Board, and that is when I truly got to know how special a gentlemen and person David was to others. Life is never certain any day, nor what we decide to do every day, David always made sure he had some type of fun sometime that day. I can only hope I can take that life lesson from my friendship with your love one and enjoy the gift of having fun each day. My loss of words reflect our deep sympathy for the Keim family and we are certain David is looking down and smiling knowing he will have fun today too!!!
God bless, Jayne and Bill Kistler
