Darlphus Wellons Woodbury Heights, NJ Darlphus Wellons "Doc", age 93, of Woodbury Heights, NJ went home to be with the Lord and welcomed home by his wife on Thursday, July 9, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Ashburn, Georgia on October 8, 1921 to Susie (nee Robinson) and Ernest Wellons. He was united in marriage to Cora Bagley on June 26, 1943 and their union was blessed with three children, Adolphus "Doc", Michael and Beverly. Darlphus was a World War II Veteran who proudly served his country honorably as a member of the US Navy, earning the Pacific and American Theater Ribbons and the Victory Medal. He was stationed at Naval Bases in Norfolk, VA, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Newport, RI and aboard the USS Riverside (APA 102). He was employed for 35 years as an Electric Static Operator at ITT Nesbitt in Philadelphia, PA and retired from Billy Penn Corporation where he worked as a Spray Painter before retiring in 1991. Doc enjoyed telling stories about his time in the Navy, dancing, painting and being at the Jersey Shore where he enjoyed the boardwalk and games of chance. He was predeceased by his wife, parents, brothers John and Earnest and sister Zepherlee (Carolyn) Witts and leaves to mourn 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Grave Side Service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 11am at Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 240 S. Tuckahoe Rd. (Route 555), Williamstown, NJ 08094 with Military Honors.
