Shirley Anne White was born on February 27, 1949 in Sherman, TX to Dal H. and Sarah Jones Crook and passed from this life on July 11, 2015 in Durant, Ok at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 14 days. Shirley married James Robert White on May 24, 1969 in Pottsboro, TX.
Shirley graduated from Pottsboro High School and Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. Shirley worked in city government in Texas but her most treasured job was a homemaker for her family. She was past president of the LAE Fraternity and the Kermit, TX VFD auxiliary. She enjoyed cross stitching and gardening. Shirley's greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jim White of the home; children, Shirlynne White and significant other Tim Young of Granbury, TX and James Robert White Jr. and wife Vickie of Calera, OK; grandchildren, Thomas M. White and Steven White; sister, Martha Webb Garvin and husband Ronnie of Pottsboro, TX; brother, Claud Crook of Whitesboro, TX and numerous extended family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Beulah Mae Sawyer and Bettie Rae Dickey and brothers, JD, Willie T. and Clayton Crook and Dale Hardy.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro. Bro. Alvie Thornton will officiate. The family will receive friends at Brown's Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 7-8 p.m.
