GALESBURG - Mrs. Wanda I. Marquis, 81, Galesburg, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015, in Knox County Nursing Home Knoxville.
She was born May 7, 1934, in Galesburg, the daughter of George and Mabel Pratt McCall. She married Herbert E. Marquis on June 11, 1955, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death Aug. 8, 2003.
She is survived by her son, Ronald Marquis of Galesburg; her daughter, Doreen (Dennis) Vold of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; her sister, Dorothy Morrison of Glasford; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and a stepsister.
Wanda worked as a psychiatric aid at the former Galesburg Research Hospital for eight years. She also had worked as an aid and receptionist at Cottage Hospital for 17 years. She later worked as a clerk Knox Laundry for seven years. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1952. Wanda was a member of First United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Red Hat Club.
Graveside service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015, in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to charity of the donor's choice. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.
