SHERMAN – Graveside services for Guy W. Andrus, Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Danny Wood officiating. Mr. Andrus passed away Monday, July 20th at the Homestead Nursing facility of Collinsville. Waldo Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Guy was born August 5, 1927 in Denison, TX to Guy Wilbur and Elnora Carr Andrus. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1945. After graduation Guy enlisted in the Navy and on completion of his service joined the National Guard.
He married Dean Cox Reynolds April 11, 1959; she preceded him in death, January 25, 2001. He worked at Line Material in Denison and later owned and operated Texaco service stations at locations in Denison and Sherman and the National Car Rental Franchise in Sherman. After Dean's passing he lived alone and was an excellent housekeeper. He became a resident at the Homestead Nursing facility in Collinsville.
Guy was very active and loved golf, bowling, reading and painting. He bowled two "300" games at Twin City Bowling Lanes in Sherman and was a member of Woodlawn Country Club in Sherman. Throughout life Guy was an avid reader and later painted in oils. He was an astute card player and played bridge and poker. He loved to go to the casino and play blackjack and slot machines.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters Mildred Hall and Ruth Ponder, nephew Scott Hall, and brother-in-laws David Cox, John Cox, and Bill Darr.
He is survived by his step-son Jack (Mike) Reynolds and wife Teri, grandchildren Sam Reynolds and partner Jessica and Andi Corley, great-grandchildren Graham Corley, Caroline Corley and Noa Reynolds, sister-in-law Gayle Darr, nieces Jan Bateman and husband Tommy, Debbie Blankenship and husband Purvis, nephew Guy Hall, and other family members and friends.

Mike, We were so sorry to hear about Guy. He was such a sweet person. After your Mom died we always got a Christmas card from hi.m for many years. Wanted you to know we are thinking of you and your family.
