Preston - Sue J. Hedtke, 84, entered eternal rest on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.
She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on Jan. 12, 1931, to the late Philip and Susan Kirchner. After graduating high school she entered the US Navy. It was there she met her beloved Fredrick Hedtke who she married within three months of their meeting. They have been married for the past 62 years. Sue worked as a tax preparer and homemaker. She truly enjoyed the beach, adding every car she ever owned was a convertible with sand on the floors.
Besides her husband Fred, she is also survived by her sister, Betty Fiorentini; grandson, Eric Harman; and great-grandson, Nico Harman.
She was predeceased by her daughters, Phyllis Harman and Kathy Richards.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, with a calling hour from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

I was so sorry to hear of Sue's passing. She was a dear, sweet friend. She will be missed by all who loved her.
