Rosemary Garza Cade passed away peacefully on August 14, 2015, at the age of 85. She was a native of New Orleans and was married to the love of her life, William "Jack" Cade, Sr. for 62 years. Rosemary is survived by her children, William J. Cade, Jr. (Karen), Robert L. Cade (Lynn), Daryl W. Cade (Cindy), Gary A. Cade (Ingrid), Carl P. Cade (Helena) and her only daughter, Jacqueline C. Schmidt (Christian); 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by William J. Cade, Sr., their son, Stephen G. Cade, and her parents George Garza, Sr. and Georgiana Garza Peeler. Rosemary, as the devoted wife of an enlisted member of the United States Navy, traveled to many naval stations including California, Guam, Texas and Virginia. In addition to being a busy homemaker raising her family, she enjoyed breeding AKC Boxers, being a Cub Scout den mother, room mother and band chaperone for her children's various schools, whereby forming friendships that would span over 50 years. Rosemary volunteered loyally for over 40 years with the Department of Veteran Affairs in the Pharmaceutical Department of the V.A. Hospital in New Orleans, where she was commended highly for her commitment. In her free time, Rosemary would enjoy many artistic hobbies such as quilting, ceramics, crocheting and baking wedding cakes. She was also an active member of American Legion Post 396, Fleet Reserve Ladies Auxiliary Branch 162, as well as Metairie Senior Center. Rosemary will be dearly missed by many treasured friends, and especially by her grandchildren, who will remember her most for her generosity and huge heart, since Mawmaw often slipped the grandkids crisp $20 bills for "gassing up their tanks." Rosemary was also known for carrying $2 bills in her purse, prepared to thank a kind stranger for a thoughtful deed. Christian burial services were conducted on August 16, 2015, and our Cade Family is comforted, remains positive and is very proud to say this Louisiana Woman is reunited eternally with her Mississippi Man.
