Edward Matternas, 81, of Pine Grove, passed away Feb. 7 in Providence Place, Pine Grove.
Born on June 25, 1933, in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late John A. and Marie Ream Mattern. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Matternas.
Edward was a 1951 graduate of Pine Grove High School.
He had been employed as a truck driver for New Penn Motor Co.
Edward dearly loved his daughter and grandson.
He enjoyed being outdoors, shooting trap, was a member of Roedersville Game & Fish Hunting Club, and a life member of the NRA and the Ellis Foundation.
Surviving are a daughter, Marna, wife of Reuben Cahn, San Diego, Calif.; grandson, Aaron Cahn, Hawaii.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove, with SALM John Ziegler officiating. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, P.O. Box 332, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

So sorry for your loss. As each day passes reflect on the love you had and the times spent creating memories, until you can make new ones when you see Edward again. John 5 : 28 says, " Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. "
