GREG WAMPLER Obituary

SUNBURY — Greg A. Wampler, 48, of Westerville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015 at his residence following a long illness.

He was born in Columbus to the late Paul Wampler and Jenny (Hamilton) Butts of Rockbridge. He was a 1986 graduate of Buckeye Valley High School and was a plumber by trade. Greg was active in his earlier years with Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as a pack and troop leader.

Greg was the apple of his Grandmother Hazel's eye and was her number 1 boy. Greg's children were upmost in his life and he treasured the time he spent with them. I am so saddened about Greg's passing. My heart goes out to his Mom, brothers, sisters and most of all his wonderful 3 children. I recently spoke to Greg and had no idea how grave his condition was. He was there for me when my dear Husband passed away a year ago...of course offering boost chargers/electronics for me at the hospital. He and I would have our "Electronic Wars" to see which one of us had the newest and greatest gadget! He was a compassionate and wonderful friend and most loving father!! He adored his kids!! He always mentioned all 3 when I would see him and missed them terribly. He was always there to volunteer for anything with Scouts! He was a Mensch!

Greg was such a giving person. When my husband, Jim fell and was on a ventilator just a year ago and passed away at OSU....Greg showed up with boost chargers for my cell. He knew I was not leaving for those last 4 days. He said "just call me" anytime if you need something. He was there for the Scouts for years (Cub and Boy Scouts) and would volunteer for anything he could assist with. He and I sort of had a "Electronics War" (all in fun) to see which of us had the newest and greatest. He was our gentle giant! I saw and talked to him just a week ago and am shocked with the news of his death!!! Rest knowing you were a good man and a loving father my friend!!!
