Barbara "Gangie" Pitchford passed from her Earthly body surrounded by her children and grandchildren to join her husband once again in our Fathers kingdom on Friday August 28, 2015. Gangie as she was known to so many was born to Luther and Irene White on January 14, 1942 in Haskell, Texas and was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronnie White and her beloved husband of 53 years Waymon Pitchford Sr. Left behind to cherish her memories until we meet again are; daughters Gayle Mitchell (Mike), Mona Free (Roy), Renea Pitchford, Staci Taylor; and her favorite son Waymon Pitchford Jr. (Carole), all of Midland. Gangie will be missed by her grandchildren Rusty Mitchell (Crystal), Michelle Mitchell, Chris Taylor (Dacey), Waymon "Todd" Taylor, Nicole Pitchford, Rachel Pitchford all of Midland, and Patrick Free-Fort Worth, TX and Justin Free-Houston, TX. Gangie's precious great granddaughters brought her so much joy and laughter her last years, and she loved those babies with every part of her, Ellie Taylor, Leyla Taylor and Elizabeth Mitchell all of Midland. And we cannot forget her faithful Chihuahua Bitsy who was with mother as her heart beat for the last time. Mom opened her heart and home and considered so many to be her other children, Rhonda DeMone of Rio Rancho NM, Patrick Lindquist of Sugarland, TX, and Beverly Spencer who left us in October 2012. Barbara spent her early years as a devoted housewife and mother before joining the workforce as a uniform supervisor at Snow White Laundry and Cleaners before going into the grocery business in 1973 at Safeway where she spent several years until moving to Furr's supermarket where she retired, as their scan coordinator in 1998. Barbara loved to help others and spent many years volunteering her time to local charities. She enjoyed throughout the years following her children's activities and traveling up and down the road with her grandchildren's activities from football to soccer, and rodeos to racecars. The family will accept friends for visitation Tuesday September 1, 2015 at Ellis funeral home from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Services by Don Mitchell will follow Wednesday, September 2, 11:00 a.m. also at Ellis Funeral home, with internment at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Rusty Mitchell, Chris Taylor, Waymon "Todd" Taylor, Patrick Free and Justin Free. Also honoring mother as pallbearers are Caleb Perry, Patrick Lindquist and Ryan Green. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Mike Miller, Dr. Richard Reese, Dr. Manish Dimri, Dr. John McKenna, Dr. Anand Rogatgi, Virginia Shelton, and Glen and Kathy Kelly for their years of care and compassion given to our parents. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702, or your charity of choice.
