Sharon Ann Monroe, age 73, of Sturgis, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015.
She was born May 23, 1942, to George and Cherry (Morrison) Monroe.
She graduated from Sturgis High School, attended Cedarville College and received a degree in education from Western Michigan University in May 1966. Sharon taught in the Fennville school system for one semester before rheumatoid arthritis put an end to her teaching career.
During the next phase of her life, she taught piano lessons, played organ at Sturgis Bible Chapel and had a card ministry at Sturgis Wesleyan Church and Sturgis Evangelical Church. Sharon had many friends and found great comfort in her relationship with Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her brother, Carl (Diane) of Midland; a nephew, Greg (Eileen) of Freeland; and nieces Cheryl (Tim) Chapman of Lima, Peru and Lisa (Michael) Miller of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Also surviving are great-nephews and nieces Samuel Monroe, Lauren, Micah and Abigail Chapman, and Carson, Blake, Madison and Cole Miller.
She was predeceased by her mother, Cherry Monroe; and her father, George Monroe.

It saddened us to hear about Sharon's passing. We were neighbors for a long time and Sue was a classmate. She was a big part of Sturgis Avenue. Always enjoyed visiting with her.

Sharon Monroe has been my friend for 65 years or so. To have known her is a wonderful privilege. She had such faith and brought joy to so many others because of that faith. Lurking just below the surface was a great sense of humor and a twinkle in her eye. Sharon took such joy in the simple pleasures of life and felt very blessed. We can all learn a lesson from the legacy she left to all of us. God Speed.
