DOVER Lawrence R. "Larry" "Nick" McMaster, 73, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015, at York Hospital while still in the prime of his life. Larry blessed his wife, Fern (March) McMaster, with 51 years marriage. He showered his three children, Gerald McMaster, Joseph McMaster, and Connie Shuler, with encouragement and gentle guidance. He welcomed his son-in-law, Robert Shuler, into the family with open arms. He cherished every moment with his grandson, Oliver Shuler. He loved getting together with his family: brothers, James McMaster, Dennis McMaster, William McMaster, and Stephen McMaster; sister, Carol Ann Brillhart; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles McMaster. Born in Hanover, on November 27, 1941, he was the son of the late Lawrence J. and Mary Catherine (Bunty) McMaster. Larry retired from Progressive Information Technologies after 38 years. He was a graduate of Delone Catholic High School, Class of 1959. Larry was a member of the Heritage Senior Center and a 25 year member of the Athletic Club of York where he enjoyed playing racquet ball. Eveyone enjoyed his company and sense of humor. Following retirement, Larry took care of his grandson, Oliver, while his parents worked - "Grampy's Daycare." Viewing will be 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 2000 W. Market St. in York. A service to celebrate Larry's life will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Following cremation, interment will be private at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Larry livened up every racquetball night with his fierce competitiveness and rye commentary. We will remember him with smiles and laughter when we play. He was a role model of how to stay active and live life to the fullest. We miss him already.
