William Robert Slay, age 84, of Bonifay, passed away Oct. 31, 2015. He was born Feb. 21, 1931 in Bonifay, to the late William Lester Slay and Claudine Busby Slay. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was an avid fisherman.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Slay was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Edward Slay and four sisters, Violet Slay Boswell, Mildred Slay Dean, Margaret Slay Williams, and Alice Slay.
Mr. Slay is survived by his wife, Denise Slay of Bonifay; two daughters, Debra Pelitera of Cumming, Georgia, Belinda Ates and husband Michael of Cumming, Georgia; one son, Alan Slay and wife Maureen of Raleigh, North Carolina; three sisters, Betty Slay Sketo of Longwood, Barbara Slay Steinle and husband John of McPherson, Kansas, Marie Slay Strickland and husband Kenneth of Westville; seven grandchildren, Levi Villars, Courtney Lirette and husband Calvin, Cody Pelitera, Alessandra Pelitera, Ryan Slay, Katie Slay, Noah Isenbarger; one great-grandchild, Addyson L. Lirette; many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at Mt. Olive Assembly of God Church with Rev. Danny Carnley and Rev. Thomas Elam officiating. Interment followed with military honors in the Mt. Olive Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home directing. Family received friends one hour prior to service. The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for the love and care to Mr. Slay.
