Barbara Johanson
POUGHQUAG - Barbara J. Johanson, 87, a resident of Dutchess County since 2010, died on November 13, 2015 at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home. She previously lived in Mahopac and Florida.
Born in Brewster on February 3, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen French. On November 25, 1948 in Croton Falls, Barbara married Karl F. Johanson who predeceased her in October of 2010.
Barbara is survived by children and their spouses, Roy and Donna Johanson of Sherman, CT, JoAnn and Michael Williams of Poughquag, Gary and GeorgeAnn Johanson of Poughquag, Karen and Mark Fransen of Patterson, and Tom and Barbara Johanson of Mahopac; her 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and her siblings and their spouses, Harold and Joan French of Fort Pierce, FL and Sally and Don Buhler of Fort Pierce, FL. She was also predeceased by her grandson, Michael C. Williams, a NYPD officer who was killed in an accident while on duty on September 21, 2014.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home on Sunday at 4 pm. Burial will be private at Union Valley Cemetery in Mahopac.
