MCDONOUGH
Emily T. (nee Wyrovsky), 95, of Haskell, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2015 with her family by her side. Emily was born in Union City and has resided in Haskell, NJ since 1948. She is the beloved wife of the late Joseph McDonough who died in 1996. She graduated from Jersey City Medical Center School of Nursing. Emily served in the US ARMY during WWII and earned American Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign and WWII Victory medals. She was a triage nurse that followed Patton in WWII in the battles in North Africa, France and Italy and obtained the rank of Captain. Her late husband, Joseph was a Navy Veteran of WWII Campaign in the Pacific. Emily was employed for over 20 years as a registered nurse for Van Dyk's Nursing Home in Ridgewood. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Pompton Lakes, NJ.
Emily's greatest joy came from her family. She relished each moment with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her five children, Joseph (and wife, Linda) of Columbia, MD, Jerry (and wife, Mary) of Wyckoff, NJ , Kenneth (and wife, Pat) of Schenectady, NY, David (and wife, Mary Beth) of Long Valley, NJ and Linda Nill (and husband, Carl) of Tinton Falls, NJ, eight grandchildren, Colleen, Michael, Alison, Danny, Sara, Connor, Kevin and Carolyn and five great-grandchildren, Laura, Jack, Ryan, Andrew and Emily. Emily was predeceased by one grandson, Chris. Visitation Monday, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at Richards Funeral Home, 4 Newark Pompton Tpk, Riverdale, NJ. Very sorry to hear about your loss. Emily was a regular part of my family's life as her family knows - my mom drove her to church every Sunday for awhile. She also helped me with a social history project while I was in college - I interviewed her about her time in the war. Always gracious, kind, compassionate and smart. God Bless!
