Judith Ann Proksch, 75, of Stoddard, WI and Yuma AZ, 75, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on January 9th, 2016 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Judy was born in La Crosse to Clarence and Alice (Lang) Hundt on October 5th, 1940. On August 27th, 1959 she was married to Ralph M Proksch at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Stoddard, WI.
Ralph and Judy farmed for many years in rural Stoddard and also ran a successful business with the Shaklee Corporation. They later purchased and operated a mail transportation contracting business along with their son Robert until their retirement in 1991. They made Yuma, AZ their home in 1998, where they were members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church since 1999. Judy was active in the church, where she sang in the choir, was a member of the OWLS (Organization of Wisconsin Lutheran Seniors), and was president of the Ladies Aid. She also spent time volunteering at the Military Lounge at the Yuma International airport, baking cookies, serving refreshments and "mothering" traveling soldiers. An avid cook, Judy loved entertaining friends in her beautiful, relaxing back yard in Yuma.
Judy is survived by her two sons, Robert of Stoddard, WI, Tom (Kyle) of Schoolcraft, MI, and her daughter, Lynne of Onalaska, WI. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Collin, Caleb and Krista; two brothers, Roger Hundt, of La Crosse, and Kenneth (Ardella) Hundt of La Crosse; and many nieces and nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; sister, Debbie; and brother, Steven.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1500 Sandlake Road, Holmen, WI. Pastor Shaun Arndt will officiate. Visitations will be held on Wednesday, January 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and also one hour prior to the service both at the church. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
